    ANGELA FREIER

I have worked in the non-profit sector as a Director of Development for over 10 years. I have fundraised for causes including the arts (opera and symphony), animal welfare, and motor disability rehabilitation for children. Throughout my experience, I planned numerous galas and professional functions with events upwards of 8,000 attendees and raising beyond $400,000 in one evening.

Some of my proudest accomplishments in the non-profit sector include entering a position with very little structure and developing working budgets, processes, systems… in a nutshell…order…something few non-profits do well. In addition to the craziness of the development world, I had an amazing time doing document filing and organization for a leading law-firm in Florida. I hold a Bachelors in Music Education along with a Masters in Non-Profit Arts Administration.

My goal within Freier Functionality is to bring the same “order” to your life. I want to help you with the areas of your life that frustrate you. Whether it be your kids’ room that never seems to look clean (even after their most valiant stashing efforts) or that closet that is a black hole of wasted potential. Even beyond the physical, I would love to help you get a handle on those weekly finances, create a filing system that works for your non-profit, or even host a Garage Sale!

When I’m not organizing, I love spending time with our kids, Abigail and Graham, visiting the amazing arts and culture treasures we have here in West Michigan, and watching a great ghost movie. We are avid Disney fans and go as often as possible. Everyone needs a bit of magic in their lives!

Fun Facts: I am a classically trained and practicing Opera singer and once held 1st place in the Michigan Women’s State Bowling Tournament.

I began my career path in the food industry, working at conference centers for events during high school and then as a student manager and manager for campus dining in college. I went to Central Michigan University and received my Bachelors degree in Communications. Following college, I became a manager at Longhorn Steakhouse in Tallahassee Florida and worked my way up to Managing Partner and back to Michigan in 2016.

For hobbies outside of work, I began learning home improvement by tinkering at our own home on projects and upgrades. I enjoyed the work so much that it became more and more of a full time thing as I worked on larger personal projects and then began helping neighbors, family, and friends.

Following a long 17 years in the restaurant business, I stepped away from my Managing role to develop Freier Functionality so that I could pursue home improvement as a new career. The change has been tremendous and I love making spaces new and beautiful for clients.

Fun Facts: Another hobby I love is baking from simple dessert bars, all the way to delicately laminated croissants. Everyone loves my special Chocolate Chip Cookies. Sorry…the recipe is a secret ;)
